Week 14: L5 Special Listings

Monday Oct 14, 2024

Monday Oct 14, 2024

In today's episode, we will be talking about the special listings of L5.  The singular vertebra is unique in that the position of the spinous process does not guarantee a spinous contact.  We will be discussing how to know what contact to use regardless of the unique listing.

Wednesday Oct 09, 2024

In this episode, we will be discussing the biomechanics properties of the ligaments, particularly, the spinal ligaments.  The ligaments are possibly one of the most ignored elements when it comes to biomechanics, but more specifically, when it comes to adjusting and our attempts to correct the spine without injuring it further.

Sunday Oct 06, 2024

In this episode, we will begin our study of Chapter 6 on the topic of Lumbar Misalignments.  In this opening section, we will discuss the 3 Dimensional listing system, as well as the proper corrective contact points.  We will also discuss why a vertebra cannot subluxate anteriorly.

Wednesday Oct 02, 2024

In this episode, we begin our journey into the works of White & Panjabi and the Clinical Biomechanics of the Spine.  Today, we will be talking about the physical properties of the spine as well as the forces it is required to resist.  This will give us a basic understanding of how the disc can become injured, and what its normal function is.

Monday Sep 30, 2024

In today's episode, we will be concluding our study of Chapter 5 on the Mechanism of Vertebral Subluxation. In this portion of the chapter, we will discuss hypermobility, compensation, and how to properly use the films for proper analysis. The crux of today's study is to distinguish between subluxation and compensation.

Sunday Sep 22, 2024

In this episode, we will begin our discussion of Chapter 5.  In this chapter we will discuss the cause of subluxation as well as the 6 stages of degeneration, which is one of the most important things a chiropractor can memorize and understand.

Sunday Sep 15, 2024

In this episode, we will be completing our look at how the sacrum interacts with the Ilium.  We will also be looking at the rules to know when we should adjust the Ilium and when we should adjust the sacrum.  Additionally, we will be looking at the lumbosacral articulation and the importance of distinguishing between a spondylolisthesis and a base posterior.

Tuesday Sep 10, 2024

Tuesday Sep 10, 2024

In today's episode, we begin the chapter on sacral misalignments. We will discuss the proper x-ray marking technique for understanding the sacrum as well as the basic biomechanics underlying sacral movement and malposition.

Week 8: Rules for Correction

Monday Sep 02, 2024

Monday Sep 02, 2024

In today's episode, we will be talking about the rules for correcting short femur height.  This applies to both the correction we make by adjusting the Ilium, but also to the correction that is made through the use of heel lifts.  This understanding of femur and pelvis interaction is crucial to a proper understanding of the foundation principle and Gonstead Chiropractic as a whole.
